MPS China’s Managing Partner Wilson Zhao welcomed as Board Member of the Finnish Business Council Shanghai

March 27, 2019 – The elegant Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai set the nostalgic set for this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Finnish Business Council Shanghai (FBCS). With 2019 also marking a-quarter decade for FBCS’ operations in Shanghai, celebrating 25 years since its establishment in 1994.
Following a recap of the activities in 2018-2019 and a presentation of the financial statement of 2018, the meeting discharged the sitting Board. The 2019-2020 election of the Board welcomed 5 new members including the Managing Partner of MPS China Wilson Zhao; other new Board members being P. Kalela (UPM), K. Liu (E.J. McKay), M. von Weissenberg (Handelsbanken) and C. Zhang (Metsä Group). After closing the election for the Board and Auditor for the new term, attention was given to awarding two of FBCS’ members: Tero Kosonen was awarded an FBCS honorary membership -and- Stella Shen was rewarded with the “FBCS Member of the Year” prize. Tero Kosonen lead MPS’ China branch as Managing Director in the period of 2008-2012 and 2014-2017; he also chaired the FBCS Board during 2009-2012 and 2016-2017.
The FBCS supports its members with their endeavors in China by offering a forum to share respective experiences; the community includes 137 corporate members, and additional individual members. Not only did the 2018-2019 term mark the most event-full year-to-date with a total of 98 events, it also celebrated a membership growth with a current total of 176 members.

With over 15 years of HR experience -of which 13 years involved in executive search- Wilson has assisted numerous companies and candidates with hiring success. This experience has molded his career, establishing a solid network of industry-specialists and a thorough understanding of several industrial segments, such as flow control, automotive, chemicals and pulp & paper.
Besides managing an understanding of technical requirements, Wilson executes assessments to aid the profiling of leadership skills, behavioral traits and motivation, essential for matching the right individual and a crucial high-profile position. As of 2017, Wilson manages the China branch of MPS, based in Shanghai, guiding his own team in their on-going career development.
