Anssi Kujala elected as the CEO of Finnish Transport and Logistics SKAL ry
Anssi Kujala, 49, is currently the Deputy Managing Director of the Federation of Finnish Enterprises, and he has worked in several managerial positions in organisations and associations and social influencing over his career. Kujala has years of managerial experience from different associations and great networks, which are crucial to a successful lobbying organisation. Anssi describes his appointment as follows:
Transport entrepreneurs and logistics play a key role in Finnish competitiveness. Industry and trade, for instance, won’t succeed if the logistics don’t work. This should be understood more widely in society, and it should be reflected in decisions. The 2020s will be a challenging decade for the organisation’s lobbying work in light of the political outlines that can be seen already.
I see plenty of potential in developing the organisation. It’s important to keep in mind that the success of the member entrepreneurs is integral. That transport entrepreneurs feel that their work is meaningful and that the organisation can show the results of its operations.
Even though my own career has been in different managerial roles in organisations and associations, as well as lobbying, I’m very familiar with the industry. My family has included transport entrepreneurs going back to the 1920s, and I have been a partner in a transport company, too.
The long selection process with its interviews and tests was challenging and very diverse. The assignments only increased my interest and motivation.
With him in the lead, we will continue renewing our organisation for the 2030s, says Jani Ylälehto, Chairperson of SKAL ry, describing the choice of the Managing Director.
We wanted to make our choice after a thorough process. And we did receive many good candidates, among whom Anssi stood out. I’m very convinced of Anssi’s abilities to continue and develop our lobbying work. Anssi’s networks and experience of the supervision of interests are an excellent foundation for him becoming SKAL’s Managing Director. In addition, understanding the transport industry helps him get started. Anssi’s desire to develop our operations also affected the choice. We are looking forward to Anssi’s new ideas for developing SKAL and benefitting our members.
